The decomposed body of a woman was recovered from inside a drum at Bengaluru’s Sir M Visvesvaraya Terminal (SMVT) railway station.

The identity of the woman is yet to be ascertained and the police have said that she was aged between 32-35 years.

Reportedly, the body had been dumped in a drum near the main gate of SMVT railway station.

Notably, two other similar cases had been reported in Bengaluru since late last year. Media reports state that police suspect a serial killer’s involvement because of the similar modus operandi in all of the cases.

In January, the body of a woman was found dumped inside a blue plastic drum at Yeshwanthpur railway station. As per the police the body was bought from Andhra Pradesh’s Machilipatnam and dumped at the railway station.

In the other instance that took place in the second week of December, an unidentified woman’s body was found in a gunny bag after a rail passenger complained of the stench emanating from the sack which was dumped with other luggage in the coach of a passenger train at SMVT station.
