Madikeri: Seven arrested in connection with robbery in Somwarpet

Madikeri: Somwarpet police have successfully arrested seven suspects related to a robbery that occurred in Kibetta village under the Somwarpet police station jurisdiction. The suspects are from Kodagu and Dakshina Kannada districts.
The arrested individuals are K. Roshan (32) from Kudmaru village, Satish Rai (54) from Kanyana, K. Ganesh (28) from Paduru village, in Dakshina Kannada, and Kusumakar (39) from Veerakamba village in Dakshina Kannada; Suryaprasad B A (43) from Shivakeri, Virajpet; Vinod Kumar H.P (36) from Venkateshwara Block, Somwarpet; and B. Mohan Kumar (45) from Hebbale village, Kushalnagar Taluk.
The police seized Rs. 3.2 lakh in cash, two cars, and nine mobile phones that used in the crime. The search for other suspects involved in the case is ongoing.
Case Background:
The robbery occurred on July 29 at 8:45 PM when Nemaraj K.M, the owner of Anusha Marketing Agency located near the private bus stand in Somwarpet, was returning home with his wife on a scooter. Unidentified individuals intercepted them at a turn on Kibetta Road, threw chilli powder in their faces, and assaulted Nemaraj’s wife. They then fled with a bag containing Rs. 6.18 lakh in cash and three mobile phones.
Nemaraj filed a complaint at Somwarpet police station.
Based on gathered information and evidence, the police arrested seven suspects. During intense interrogation, it was revealed that Roshan, Satish Rai, Ganesh, and Kusumakar were involved in inter-district robbery cases and had previously participated in serious crimes such as murder, attempted murder, and kidnapping in Dakshina Kannada.
District Additional Superintendent of Police Sundar Raj, Somwarpet DYSP Gangadharappa, Circle Inspector Madhu Madeva, Station Officer Gopal, and teams from Somwarpet police station and crime detection experts were involved in the operation.
