Following reports regarding individuals falling ill after consuming tender coconut water sourced from a factory on the outskirts of Mangaluru, Dr. Thimmaiah, the Dakshina Kannada District Health Officer, inspected the facility.

Dr. Thimmaiah stated, “A team from the health department has visited the factory. We have collected approximately 15 liters of tender coconut water for testing, which has been sent to the laboratory. Further actions will be taken based on the findings of the report.”

Hospitalizations Reported

Three individuals, including two women and a 12-year-old child, are currently receiving treatment at a private hospital in the city. Additionally, 13 individuals have been treated as outpatients for symptoms including vomiting and diarrhea. Samples of their bodily fluids have been sent for laboratory analysis.

Meanwhile, District Health Officers have investigated reports of vomiting and diarrhea among residents of Tumbe and Adyar areas. These symptoms were reported after consuming ice cream and tender coconut water from the factory here. In response to complaints, health officials visited the factory and collected samples, and sent them for laboratory testing. The factory has since been temporarily closed for cleaning.

Affected individuals are receiving treatment at a private hospital, and health officials are taking necessary measures to safeguard public health.
