Shahapur: Jeweller loses one kg gold, Rs 8.5 lakh cash while boarding bus

Shahapur: One kg of gold and cash worth Rs 8.5 lakh were stolen from a jeweller who had boarded a bus here on Thursday evening.

Vikas Jain, a Mumbai-based jeweller, lost the valuables in his baggage while boarding the bus to Vijayapura at the Old bus stand in the town. He was reportedly returning home after visiting gold traders in the area as usual. it is suspected a thief may have stolen the valuables taking advantage of the rush.

After being alerted, police arrived at the scene and initiated an investigation into the matter. The gold itself was worth around Rs 70 lakhs.

A case has been registered at the town police station here. Sources said the police are on the lookout for the thief.
