Shankaranarayana: Missing lady found dead

Siddapura: A lady who had gone to wash clothes in a rivulet in Shadigundi, Kulinje village within Shankaranarayana police station limits and gone missing has been found dead in a nearby pit here on Thursday evening, July 4.

The missing lady now found dead is identified as Amitha Naik(21), daughter of Shadigundi resident Laxman Naik. She was pursuing B.Com degree and awaiting her results.

The girl had informed her mother that she was going to the rivulet for washing clothes. However, she failed to return back home despite the passage of much time and hence her relatives grew anxious, went looking for her and found her clothes and chappals near the rivulet but no clue to her whereabouts.

The family presumed that the girl might have drowned since the location where she was washing the clothes was dangerous, with much depth and prone to whirlpool. So they immediately informed the situation to the police. Fire fighters and police personnel rushed to the spot and a search for the mortal remains of the girl was launched along with assistance from local divers.

After a long tedious search, a local identified as Dinakar Shetty who was assisting the search in his raft found the corpse of the girl stuck in some outgrowth. The corpse was recovered and then handed over to the police.

MLA visit

Byndoor MLA B M Sukumar Shetty visited the spot and consoled the family. Shankaranarayana police handed the corpse back over to the family after autopsy.
