Shantha Mallikarjuna Swamy coronated as succesor to Saluru Matha

Hanuru (Chamarajanagar): Vatu Nagendra was elected as the heir of the Salur Brihanamatha on the famous Male Mahadeshwara hill in the taluk.
Speaking at the occasion Sutturu seer stated that the guruswamy of the Saluru matha was facing constant health problems. Many devotees of the matha requested to choose a successor soon. As a result, a selection committee of 9 office-bearers was constituted. After the committee in its final report said that they find Vatu Nagendra most suitable for the post and accordingly this coronation ceremony was held.
MLA Narendra said that because of the declining health of the Salur Matha’s guruswamy the social and developmental activities of the matha was hindered. Now that a successor has been chosen the works from the matha will be in full swing.
He added that the children of 26 villages in the vicinity of the Mahadeswara hills should be given a good education by the matha’s educational institutions.
Gundlupede MLA Niranjan Kumar, former MLA Parimala Nagappa, successor selection committee chairman Shagya Ravi, pontiffs of various mathas and devotees were present during the coronation ceremony.
