Class dropout reaches her goal without a teacher

Dropping out in 6 std, she studied at home and passed PUC with distinction!

Kota: There is a saying that states anything is achievable if one has the will to achieve it. In the same way, a girl who dropped out of 6th std realized the importance of education after 10 years and directly attempted SSLC exams and passed with 84% marks without attending any classes or without any teacher’s help. She then attempted 2nd PU exams in Arts and passed with 85% marks.

This feat has been achieved by Akshata Devadiga, daughter of Mumbai businessman Mahabala Devadiga and Asha Devadiga couple, residing at Barrebail near Shiriya.

Dropped out of school in 6th std

Akshata grew under the care of her grandfather Narayana Devadiga at Barebail since her childhood. When she was pursuing 6th std education at the local Saibrakatte primary school, she lost interest in education. Giving no ear to the advice of her family, friends and everyone else, she discontinued school education. For the next 10 years she remained at home.

Passing with distinction

After 10 years, she witnessed her friends becoming successful after completing their higher education and she felt that she too must study and get a good job. Therefore, she informed her family and got registered with a private tutorials with the aim to directly attempt SSLC exam. Although she had the opportunity to attend daily classes there, she was reluctant to attend them feeling shy of her age and feeling that others will make fun of her. So she started studying at home without the help of a teacher and solely depending on guide books. In this way, after persistent hard work, she attempted SSLC exams last year and passed with 84%. This time, in the same way she passed 2nd PU exam in arts division with 85% marks.

“Initially I was not interested about education. Therefore I dropped out of school in 6th std. After 10 years I realized that education is essential to become successful in life. I took the question as a challenge, attempted SSLC, PUC exams and passed with flying colours. I aim to get a degree through Open University and get a job,” says Akshata, achieving student
