Police shot a rowdy sheeter in the leg in self-defense after he allegedly attempted to assault the cops during the Mazahar here on Wednesday night.
The accused Manjunath alias Olanga has been admitted to McGann Hospital in Shimoga for treatment.
Police said that Olanga had gone absconding after allegedly stabbing a young woman named Shashi three days ago. On Wednesday evening he arrived at Jayanagar police station to surrender.
When Olanga was taken for Mazahar he allegedly tried to assault the police personnel, who retaliated in self-defense by firing him in the leg.
