Shimoga: In a recent marriage here, the bride has tested positive for COVID-19. This has caused anxiety in all those who attended the wedding.

The bride from Aramanekoppa in Hosanagara taluk and the groom from Kaup in Udupi district were married on June 25.

Later, a grand reception was held at the Mattimane within Aramanekoppa gram panchayat limits.

Hundreds of people attended the wedding and the reception.

An investigation is underway on whether the bride got infected in Kapu or after she came to Shimoga district. Presently, she is admitted to the designated COVID-19 hospital in Shimoga for treatment.

Her primary contacts are being traced and quarantined. As a precautionary measure, the Aramanekoppa gram panchayat has been sealed.
