Shiradi Ghat closure: DC postpones construction site review

Sakleshpur: The review and on-site visit of Shiradi Ghat road widening work, that was to be held on Thursday, has been temporarily postponed by an order of Hassan’s deputy commissioner.
The site visit had been announced after a huge public outcry overNHAI’s proposal to close the important highway NH75 for 6 months time was revealed. Representatives and officials including District in-charge minister, MLA HK Kumarswamy, Deputy Commissioner Girish were to visit the SHiradi Ghat section of the Highway to take stock of the situation.
On this backdrop, ‘Shiradi Raste Ulisi Horata Samiti’ (Committee for the fight to Save Shiradi Road) had announced a public protest during the site visit against the closure of the highway.
The president of the Horata Samiti Sanjit Shetty said that the protests have been called off for the reason that Union Road Transport & Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari convening a meeting with top NHAI officials and Project Director.
Further course of the movement will be decided based on the outcome of the meeting he said.
