Mangaluru: Shiradi Ghat may open earlier than expected as the second phase of the concretisation of Shiradi Ghat was completed 10 months before schedule on June 29th.

Mangaluru-based Ocean Constructions India Pvt Ltd’s deadline for the concretiztion of the 12.38-km stretch (Kemphole to Addahole) was set to April 9th 2019. But, they have finished the work a whole lot earlier. However, work on the shoulder, guard walls, drainage and curing for the freshly laid concrete stretches will take a minimum of 15 days, inform sources.

According to sources, DK DC  Sasikanth Senthil is not keen on opening the Shiradi stretch till the completion of work on shoulders and guard walls at the critical points prone to accidents. Hence, the Ghat may be opened only after July 15th.

Assistant executive engineer T S Prasanna Kumar, National Highway subdivision (Sakleshpur) informed that eight teams are at work and each team has been given a target to build 50 metres of guard wall every day. The teams are being paid double wages to ensure the Ghat be opened as early as possible.
