Shiroor Moola Mutt to be under police custody till July 21

Udupi : The IGP of Western Range Arun Chakravarthy and district Superintendent Police, Lakshman Nimbargi visited Hiriadka and Shiroor Math after the demise of Shiroor Swamiji and said that the mutt will be under the cops for examination till July 21.

The police said that nobody would be allowed to enter the premises of the matt for the next three days to aid the investigations into the mysterious death of its Shirror matt chief pontiff Sri Lakshmivaratheertha Swami.

Based on the complaint filed by Lathavya Acharya, brother of the late Shiroor Math Swamiji, Sri Lakshmivara Theertha, in Hiriadka police station, the district superintendent of police, Laxman Nimbargi, has totally restrained people from entering Shiroor Math premises at Car Street here for the present. Similar ban has also been enforced at the original Shiroor Math property near Harikandige near Hiriadka.

The police will seize items used in the kitchen of the Math and also look through the CCTV footages.
