Udupi: Sri Vishwesha Theertha Swamiji of Pejawar Math said that he could attend the funeral of Shiroor swamy as he was in Hubli.
Adressing the media, Vishwesha Theertha said, “I was in Hubli when I got to know about the untimely death of Shiroor seer. I was eight hours away from Udupi it was not possible to reach here by then. Also, I had a predetermined programme in Sirsi in the evening which I attended and then proceeded to Udupi,”
He said that the Shiroor seer was pro-people and always mingled with people. He liked art music and cultural activities very much. He nurtured talents.
We have always been supportive to him. But as a seer, he did not abide by the policies and also consumed alcohol. He had relationship with two women which is against the norms of the mutt.
Rumours say that he had consumed alcohol on the day he consumed food with children. We just wanted him to change his behaviour and make himself worthy of offering pujas to the idols,” Swamiji said.
