Shiroor Seer’s death: Police arrest woman servant

Udupi: Hiriyadka police have arrested a woman servant who worked for Shiroor Seer who died due to suspected food poisoning on July 19th.
Investigation was started by Hiriyadka police soon after the death of Sri Shiroor Lakshmivara Theertha Swamiji. Post-mortem revealed that there was poisonous substance in the body and a further report from the labratories is awaited.
Earlier, Shiroor Swami was admitted to Kasturba Hospital Manipal after he complained of stomach ache and vomiting. However he failed to respond to the treatment and breathed his last at 1 am on July 18th.
It is being said that the woman servant, whom the police have taken into custody, is the one with whom the deceased seer had supposedly maintained close relationship. He had allegedly bought a house for her at Kinnimulki and also a car. The same car was allegedly spotted near the Math earlier, it is alleged. More details are awaited.
