Udupi: The digital video recorder (DVR) which was missing from the Shiroor moola Mutt at Shiroor, was recovered from the river Swarna here on Wednesday.
The police investigation team was on a lookout for the DVR from the mutt after the untimely death of Shiroor swamy. The team recovered the DVR with the help of metal detectors and expert divers from river Swarna which flows by the mutt.
It has been reported that on July 19, the police had interrogated the Mutt staff regarding the absence of DVRs. The staff had informed that two young men July 18 had taken away some items from the bedroom of the Swamiji. The men involved with the incident were probed and they confessed having thrown the DVRs into the river, it is said.
It has been reported that a youth named Iqbal, helped a lady who was said to be close to Shiroor Swamiji, to escape to Mumbai has been arrested.
As the DVRs are wet and lot of waste and mud have accumulated, it might take a few days to recover their contents, it is said.
The police hope to get all the facts right like activities which were happening in the Math like consumption of liquor, visit of women, feeding of poison etc by matching the contents of the DVRs with post mortem and forensic science laboratory reports.
