Shirur Landslide: Search ops in Gangavalli River to resume

Team Udayavani, Aug 3, 2024, 8:57 AM IST

Malpe: Eshwar Malpe has announced plans to resume the search for bodies in the Gangavalli River at the Ankola Shiroor landslide area on August 4, during the new moon day.

Due to the influence of the sea tide, the water flow in the river may decrease, which could facilitate the search operation, he said.

Despite conducting ten search operations on July 27 and 28, Eshwar Malpe’s team has not found any bodies. The presence of muddy, turbid water had hindered the search, leading the district administration to temporarily halt the operation.

The team will depart from Malpe at 3 AM on Sunday and begin the search in the Gangavali River at 7 AM, Eshwar Malpe said.
