Hijab Row: Shivamogga DC imposes Sec 144 prohibitory orders around schools and colleges

Shivamogga: District’s Deputy Commissioner Dr. Selvamani R, on Sunday, imposed prohibitory orders all around schools and high schools and colleges in Shivamogga as a precautionary measure following the ongoing hijab – saffron shawl controversy.

Section 144 will be in effect from February 13, 10 pm to February 14, 10 pm and will be in operation around 200 meters surrounding all the high schools.

As per the section, any activity that disturbs an individual’s personal faith or religion is prohibited. All sorts of gatherings including protests, rallies, or protests are banned. Carrying sticks, clubs, knives, or machetes and such articles that constitute lethal weapons is prohibited. Inciting slogans, songs, speeches are strictly barred.
