Shivamogga: Despite the Karnataka High Court interim order banning students from attending classes wearing religious attire, several students at a school in Shivamogga came to classes wearing hijabs on Tuesday.
School authorities asked the students to remove their headscarves before attending the classes, but some of them refused to comply. They were refused entry into classrooms and were sent home.
Some of the students had come to the schools to attend their SSLC preparatory examinations but returned home for not allowing hijabs in exam halls. “Hijab is important for us. I will write the exams only if I’m allowed to wear my hijab,” a student who was sent home said.
On Monday, 13 students had been sent home from the school for refusing to remove hijab in classrooms. They did not come to the school on Tuesday too.
