Shivamogga: Quick thinking by motorists avoided a major tragedy after a live electric wire fell on a bus during a road mishap.

A private bus, traveling from Shivamogga to Bengaluru,  lost control and collided with an electric pole near a turn in Pillangere on Monday night.  The bus also hit an Omni car.

As the bus struck the electric pole, a live electric wire fell onto the bus.

Passengers from other vehicles on the road quickly came to the rescue. Realizing the wire was still live, they immediately called MESCOM (Mangalore Electricity Supply Company) and informed them. They also warned the bus passengers, who were hurriedly getting off the bus, about the wire, thus saving many lives.

Fortunately, there were no fatalities. The bus driver sustained serious injuries, and a few passengers received minor injuries.

The villagers of Pillangere, hearing the crash, rushed to assist. They provided emergency help to the bus passengers and called for an ambulance.

The incident occurred within the jurisdiction of Shivamogga Rural Police Station.
