Shivamogga: A man, stranded on a rock in the middle of the Tunga River, was rescued by fire department personnel on Wednesday morning.

The incident took place near the old bridge in Shivamogga, where Gopal (35) was found trapped on a rock in the river. Firefighters launched a rescue operation and successfully saved him.

Gopal had gone to the rock in the middle of the Tunga River the previous night and slept there. By morning, the water level had risen, leaving him unable to return to the shore.

Gopal was spotted sitting on the boulder by locals who immediately alerted the fire department. A rescue team used a boat to reach Gopal and safely bring him back to shore. He reported to be safe.
