Shivamogga: Maoist leader B G Krishnamurthy being brought to city for court appearance, security tightened

Shivamogga: Amid tight security, Maoist leader B. G. Krishnamurthy is being transported from Viyyur Jail in Kerala’s Thrissur district to Shivamogga through a body warrant. The police are facilitating his appearance before the city court.

Hailing from Nemmaru village of Shringeri in Chikkamagaluru district, B G Krishnamurthy is a key figure among the Naxals. He faces charges in 2 cases registered at Thirthahalli police station and 3 cases at Agumbe police station.  He is reported to be en route from Kerala to Shivamogga under heavy security measures.

The transfer is expected to conclude by Tuesday night and police have heightened security measures to ensure a smooth and secure process.

B G Krishnamurthy, identified as a Naxal leader after the demise of Saket Rajan, was apprehended by the Kerala Police in November 2021.
