Shivamogga violence: 62 people detained, curfew extended till Dec 5

Shivamogga: 62 people have been detained in connection with Thursday’s violence in the city, East Zone IGP S Ravi said.
Speaking at a news conference, he said that the city is fully under control and peace has been restored. 19 people were injured in the violence. Ten cases have been reported from Doddapete and Kote police station limits. The accused in the Nagesh attack case will be arrested soon.
Already 148 sensitive and highly sensitive areas have been identified. 9 checks have been set up to prevent the entry of people from other districts. 19 mobile patrol vehicle 22 Cheetah vehicles are patrolling the city. 1,000 thousand policemen from Davanagere zone have been deployed for the purpose of maintaining peace in the city, he added.
He requested that the general public should not give heed to rumours and appealed everyone to cooperate with the police in order to reestablish peace in the city.
Speaking at the conference, Deputy Commissioner KB Shivkumar announced that the curfew in the city has been extended till December 5.
Superintendent of Police KM Shantaraju was also in attendance at the conference.
