Shivamogga: A youth has been questioned by the police for reciting ‘azaan’ during a protest at the Deputy Commissioner’s office in Shivamogga.

The protest was staged by a Muslim organization on March 17 against former minister and BJP legislator K.S. Eshwarappa over his remarks about ‘azaan’. During the protest, a youth recited ‘azaan’, and the video of the same went viral on social media.

Shivamogga Superintendent of Police, G.K. Mithun Kumar said that the police have registered a case against the youth, who was summoned and questioned about the incident but has not been arrested. The police are also checking the antecedents of those who participated in the protest, and action will be taken if anything suspicious is found.
