Shivapadi: Shivaarati on March 2,3, and 4; Atirudra Mahayaga on March 5

Manipal: Various religious and cultural programmes are being held as part of the Atirudra Mahayaga of the Sri Umamaheshwara Temple Shivapadi. Atirudra Mahayaga festivities, which is being held for the first time in Udupi, will continue till March 5 with great pomp and religious fervor.
The Mahayaga is being celebrated with the blessings and guidance of Sringeri Sharada Peethadheeswara Sri Majjagadguru Shankaracharya Sri Bharathi Theertha Mahaswamiji, and under the aegis of Sri Umamaheshwara Temple Development Trust and Atirudra Mahayaga Samiti.
On March 2, 3, 4: Shivaarati
From March 2 to March 4, a Shivaarati will be performed at 6.30 PM, will be performed by a team of eight people from Varanasi at Ati Rudra Yaga Mandap. Shata Chandika Yaga will be held on March 2.
March 2: Horekanike Procession
A Horekanike procession will proceed from Manipal Syndicate Circle at 2 pm, via Manipal National Highway, to reach Shivapadi Temple.
March 5: Poornahuti
Shrangeri Sharada Peethadhishwara Sri Majjagadguru Sri Sri Vidhushekhara Bharathi Sannidhanam will be brought to the temple in a special procession on the evening of March 4. On the next day, i.e. March 5, Atrirudra Mahayaga will begin at 6.30 AM., followed by Poornahuti, Kalashabhisheka, Pallapooje, and Maha Annasantharpane.

Expert chefs are churning out delicious food arrangements for the devotees arriving for the Mahayaga. Breakfast in the morning, annaprasadam in the afternoon, light snacks in the evening, and annaprasadam at night are prepared and served to the devotees every day.
The premises of the temple has been decked up with LED lights and flowers to complement the festive mood.
Parking arrangements have also been made at various places for the convenience of the devotees. Around 2,000 vehicles can be parked at the designated areas. A separate parking space has been provided for two-wheelers and four-wheelers. Shivpadi Sri Umamaheswara Temple Development Trust President Mahesh Thakur said in a release that volunteers have been deployed to facilitate devotees’ needs.
