Bengaluru: In a rather shocking incident, the principal of Havanur Public School in Bengaluru was stabbed to death, by a gang of five persons, in front of the class 10 students of the school on Sunday morning.
The deceased, Ranganath, 56, was taking a special class for the students when the miscreants, who gained access into the school premises by overpowering the security guard, barged into the classroom and stabbed him to death.
Passersby who were alerted by the screams of the children rushed into the school to check what was going on and were shocked to see the principal dead. The accused, however, had made good their escape.
The police arrived at the scene and took statements from the people present there. Since the students were visibly shaken by this incident the police would talk to them once they recover from the shock.
Meanwhile, the police is using the footage captured on the CCTV cameras, installed at the school gate which shows the men barging into the school premises to identify the culprits and is hopeful of nabbing them soon.
According to the police the reason behind this murder could be personal. Few family members suspect that an affair the principal was having could have led to the murder. The police are said to be pursuing this angle as well.
“A case of murder has been registered against unidentified persons currently and names will be added once we nab the culprits,” said a police officer.
