Bagalkote district administration has imposed Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) till 8 pm on Friday after violent clashes erupted between two groups belonging to two different communities at Kerur town in Badami.

Members of both the groups resorted to arson and set ablaze several shops, pushcarts and two-wheelers here on Wednesday evening. Three people were stabbed in the melee and have been admitted to a hospital.

Upon getting information about the violence, police swung into action and brought the situation under control. As a precautionary measure, the administration imposed prohibitory orders till Friday and declared a holiday for schools and colleges on Thursday.
