Tumakuru: Shivakumara Swami, the 111-year-old pontiff of Siddaganga Mutt, will be shifted to a hospital in Chennai for treatment today (Friday) afternoon or evening.
It is gathered that a team of doctors from the Dr. Rela Institute and Medical Centre in Chennai had arrived at the Mutt, on Thursday and conducted various tests on the seer, who was recently discharged from the BGS Gleneagles Global Hospitals in Bengaluru.
While the Swamiji showed some reluctance initially, he later agreed to be shifted to Chennai for a permanent treatment for his liver tube infection. Complications had arisen in the seer’s health after two of the 11 stents in his bile duct got dislodged.
Meanwhile, Deputy Chief Minister G. Parameshwara, who visited the seer, said his condition was stable.
