Bengaluru: Former chief minister Siddaramaiah expressing his distress said that it is impossible to convince Gokak MLA Ramesh Jarkiholi, who had submitted his resignation on July 1.
Addressing presspersons on Friday he said “We tried everything possible to convince not to resign, but everyone has their own limits and we too have a saturation point. We crossed that point when trying to convince Ramesh. Congress party will not try to appease Ramesh any more.”
However, Siddaramaiah said that ” Any decision taken by Speaker Ramesh Kumar in this matter will be considered final.”
Anand Singh and Ramesh Jarkiholi resigned from the state assembly membership on Monday, July 1. Singh said he submitted his resignation to Speaker KR Ramesh Kumar. However, Kumar said he was not aware of any such resignation, adding that no leader contacted him.
Ramesh Jarkiholi also resigned from the state assembly membership and submitted his resignation to the Speaker on Monday. However, Ramesh’s resignation comes as no surprise and ends months of speculation about his future.
Ramesh and Singh’s resignation comes at a time when cracks seem to appear in the Janata Dal (Secular) and Congress coalition in the state.
