Mangaluru: Rubbishing Congress leader Siddaramaiah’s remarks about a change of chief minister after the bypoll results, BJP state president Nalin Kateel said that the former chief minister was spreading rumors in an effort to retain his Leader of Opposition post.
While asserting that Yediyurappa will complete the remaining tenure of 2.5 years as chief minister, Nalin said that in the next one-and-a-half month’s time Siddaramaiah would lose his position as leader of the opposition in the assembly.
“A decision to replace him has been taken,” said Nalin adding that the former chief minister was making false statements against BS Yediyurappa in a bid to hold on to the post.
Further, he said that Congress legislators have become disoriented owing to the friction between Siddaramaiah and D K Shivakumar. “The recent Bengaluru violence is proof of the friction between the two leaders,” Nalin said pointing out that MLA Akhandra Srinivas Murthy, has been a supporter of Siddaramaiah while Sampath Raj is the supporter of D K Shivakumar.
