Bengaluru: Congress Legislature Party chief Siddaramaiah has urged Higher Education Minister CN Ashwathnarayan to withdraw its decision of implementing National Education Policy (NEP) immediately.
In a letter, Siddarammaih noted that detailed discussions must have held before implementing the order as policy changes in matters like education and health are not small.
It promotes privatisation leading to inequality and social injustice. The intention is to indoctrinate students with the idea of communalism through education. NEP is unscientific and will push lakhs of students to darkness, the letter read.
Earlier too he had lashed out at the state government for hurriedly implementing the National Education Policy (NEP)-2020 without consultation at the state level.
He had pointed out the concerns he has noticed in the new education policy and said that NEP allows a student to get enough credits online thus eliminating the need for them to attend physical classes. This in effect will reduce universities to distance education course institutions.
