Haveri: Congress legislator Zameer Ahmed Khan has said that his statement on Siddaramaiah becoming the next chief minister of the state was his opinion and had nothing to do with the party.
Addressing the media on Monday he said, “What is wrong in me batting for Siddarmaiah as the next CM? I’ve said my opinion. Ultimately, our party abides by the high command. Sonia and Rahul Gandhi are our leaders. Whatever they decide will be final”.
Reacting to the ‘Siddaramotsav’ he said, “Siddarmaiah has not celebrated his birthday till date. This time around, his fans and followers have pressurized him to organize a programme. Hence, abiding by their wishes we are celebrating his birthday on a grand scale”.
“Moreover, the minority section of the state wants to give back something to Siddaramaiah, as he has worked a lot for their development. For this, we want all the minority sections to come together and join the celebrations. We want to show him that the minority section of the state stands by him”, he added.
Taunting KPCC president D K Shivakumar, Zameer said, “We will also celebrate our KPCC president’s birthday in the same way. The whole party will come together to celebrate his birthday”.
