Silver jubilee celebrations of ICAS held in Manipal

Manipal: Strengthen bilateral relations between India and Australia to promote higher education opportunities for Indian students in leading Australian universities, said Australian Consul-General, Ms Susan Grace at the silver jubilee celebrations of International Center for Applied Sciences (ICAS), a constituent unit of Manipal Academy of Higher Education at the Dr TMA Pai auditorium here on Saturday. Mrs. Vasanthi R. Pai, Trustee, MAHE Trust was present.
She spoke about the advantages of international transfer programme and the need for global exposure for students to be successful in a professional field today while outlining the educational opportunities available in Australia. She spoke of the universities and said that most of the Australian universities were ranked among the top 100 in the world.
ICAS which offers a 2+2 twinning programme in Engineering with its unique advantages, provides an ideal platform for Indian students to obtain international degrees with tremendous opportunities to develop their careers abroad.
MAHE Vice Chancellor, Dr. H Vinod Bhat talked about the advantages of Manipal education which provides multi-disciplinary and cross-cultural opportunities to the students. Pro Chancellor Dr. H S Ballal stressed the need for acquiring problem solving skills and life-long learning skills to combat major burning problems faced by the world today.
Dr. Radhakrishna S. Aithal, Director of ICAS who welcomed the gathering and Dr. Ganesha A, Associate Director who proposed the vote of thanks. A short video show took the audience through the growth of ICAS over the quarter of a century. Ex-Directors and a few distinguished alumni of ICAS were honored on the occasion.
