SIM cards issued to criminals using documents of labourers
Police receive complaint from three persons

Udupi: A case has come to light wherein the documents provided by day wage labourers to procure SIM cards for themselves is being reused on the sly, as documents to provide SIMs to criminals in Bengaluru.
Eshwar Achanuru (35), Santosh Nakkar Gundi (25) and Hanumanta Ettinamane (38), all from Layada Gundi and Budi Nagada in Badami respectively have given a complaint to the police in this connection alleging that they have been cheated since they are day wage workers.
“We have been working as day wage workers in Udupi and almost a year ago, we got Vodafone SIM cards at Udupi City Bus Stand by providing our Aadhar Card and fingerprint. We have been cheated since criminals booked for various crimes within Rajarajeshwari Nagar police station limits have been provided SIM cards using our documents,” they state in their complaint to Udupi police.
Murder accused
The criminals who have received SIM cards based on the documents of the day wage labourers are accused of murder and many other cases. They are also accused in Arms Act and Karnataka Control of Organized Crimes Act (COCA). The labourers realized of the situation when they were subjected to questioning by the police from Bengaluru who had reached Udupi through investigation based on SIM card records.
