Sirsi: Body of teenager who fell off a cliff fished out after 18-hour-long search operation

Sirsi: The mortal remains of the college student who had fallen off a cliff near the Shivaganga waterfall were traced after 18 hours of search on Wednesday.

On January 18, Subramanya Vinayak Hegde (19) of Herur Chala along with two of his friends had gone to the waterfall for an outing. While taking a selfie he had slipped and fallen off the cliff, sources said.

A search and rescue operation was launched by Sursi rural police station PSI Irayya Killedar under the guidance of DySP Ravi D Naik and CPI Ramachandra Naik.  Local swimmer Gopal Narayanagowda Hirekalavi, the fire brigade, and villagers joined the search party. The body was fished out from the depths of the waterfall, sources said.

Police have booked a case and are investigating.
