Bengaluru: Special Investigation Team (SIT) has received more than 50 telephone calls including whatsapp messages from various parts of the state and county on the three sketches of the suspects involved in the murder of senior journalist Gauri Lankesh in Bengaluru.
The callers, senders of whatsapp messages have reportedly claimed that they had seen the suspects before the murder of the writer on September 5 in Bengaluru. SIT released the sketches of three suspects on Saturday in an attempt to gather key information from the public on the murderers.
Many Bengaluru residents have claimed that they had seen the suspect(s) in the state capital. A caller from Kerala has informed the SIT that one of the suspects had been staying near his residence for many days suspiciously.
A SIT member informed, the number of whatsapp messages is higher than the calls received on the suspects soon after the release of the three sketches. Messages from Bengaluru, Mysuru, Mandya, Northern Karnataka, Kerala and Tamil Nadu have provided information to the investigators.
