Bengaluru: An enormous stun to the ruling Congress as senior party legislator Malikayya Guttedar on Thursday chose to quit Congress and join BJP.

A six-time MLA from Afzalpur constituency in Kalaburagi locale, Guttedar is annoyed with the party  for ignoring him. He hit out at Congress leader in Lok Sabha Mallikharjuna Kharge and his son Priyank Kharge, blaming them for contriving to destroy his political career.

Guttedar, who met BJP State president B S Yeddyurappa in his residence at Dollars’ Colony in Bengaluru, said he will soon leave as MLA and formally join the BJP.
