Ahead of Karnataka Assembly elections, former chief Minister and BJP Leader SM Krishna on Wednesday announced his retirement from active politics.
Speaking to media persons, SM Krishna said that he took the decision due to age-related reasons, “I am 90 years old now. At 90, I will not have the stamina of a 50-year-old person,” he said.
On a question regarding about BJP trying to make inroads into the Old Mysuru region, Krishna said, “We will see about my participation when the party plans any programs in the region. I will give advise only if asked by senior party leaders.”
Regarding naming of a road in Mysuru after Nalvadi Krishnaraja Wodeyar, the former CM stated that Wodeyar was among the great leaders of India and has contributed a lot towards development activities. “I have written to Nitin Gadkari and Chief Minister Bommai about naming proposal. Let’s wait for their decision,” he said
