Smuggled gold worth Rs 1.59 crores confiscated at Bengaluru Airport

Devanahalli: Customs officials at Kempegowda International here thwarted a smuggling attempt and confiscated gold jewellery worth Rs 1.59 crore.
A total of 2 kg 610 grams of gold was seized from the baggage of two passengers of Indian origin. The passengers had landed in Bengaluru from Singapore.
During baggage check, the gold was discovered hidden inside the belt of bags to avoid detection by customs officials.
Customs officials said that the two passengers have been detained and further investigations are underway.
