Smuggling bid foiled, gold over Rs 16lac seized at MIA

Mangaluru: Customs officials at Mangaluru International Airport on Tuesday, March 2 apprehended a person and seized gold weighing 350 grams from his possession.
The man, Mohammed Awan hailing from Murudeshwar had arrived from Dubai by Air India flight. Based on intelligence and profiling, officials nabbed him and
found him trying to smuggle gold by concealing it in his trolley bag beadings.
The value of gold seized is estimated at Rs.16,52,000. Further investigation is under progress.
The team was led by Dr.Kapil Gade I.R.S Deputy Commissioner and comprising of Nagesh Kumar Superintendent, Subendu Behra and Naveen.
