Soldier from Chikkamagaluru mysteriously found dead in Bihar’s Kishanganj

Chikkamagaluru: A soldier from Chikkamagaluru, on his way to rejoin the troops, was mysteriously found dead in the Kishanganj area of Bihar on Sunday.
The soldier identified as Ganesh a native of Masigadde Village here was serving in the signal regiment of the Indian Army for the past 14 years. He had come home on leave about 15 days ago. As he had to report for duty on June 12, he left home on June 9. However, his lifeless body was found before he could do so.
According to sources, Ganesh had spoken to his wife over the phone on Sunday morning. However, in the afternoon, when his wife called him again, his mobile phone was switched off, and did not receive any calls. The family came to know of his death only when the army officials called them in the night on Sunday.
The body was identified by the ambulance driver based on the army ID card found on his person. The police were informed about the incident and they relayed the information to the army officials, sources close to deceased’s family said.
However, the family is still in the darl about the circumstance of his death, they added.
Meanwhile, the family is distraught after the death of its sole breadwinner. Ganesh’s brother who also served in the army had passed away. Ganesh is survived by his wife, aged parents, and a 5-year-old daughter.
Karnataka Chief minister’s political secretary D N Jeevaraj visited the soldier’s home and expressed his condolences.
