Someshwar beach moral policing case: Police arrest 5, including minor

Five persons, including a minor, have been arrested in connection with the moral policing incident that took place at Someshwar beach on Thursday evening.
The arrested have been identified as Yathish, a resident of Bastipadpu, Sachin, Akhil and Suhen, all residents of Talapady, and a minor. An FIR under rioting and 307 IPC is registered against the accused.
Three paramedical students — Jaffer Sharif, Mujeeb and Ashique, hailing from Kerala were attacked and injured by a group of individuals for being with female students of different communities on Thursday evening. They were visiting the beach with three girls who were also their college mates, police added.
Two police teams had been formed to trace the attackers. The arrested persons are being questioned and efforts are on to nab the other suspects.
Police said that the girl students, who were in the company of the assaulted youths have been sent home.
Meanwhile, it is gathered that police detained over 10 Hindu organization workers for questioning in the case. BJP district secretary Sathish Kumpala visited the police station and urged the police commissioner to release the innocent workers.
