Ullal: Rescuers found the bodies of two students, who were swept away by sea waves near Alimakallu in Someshwar beach on Saturday, near the spot where they went missing.
The deceased have been identified as Yashvith (18), son of Shekhar, a resident of Adka, Kunjathur, and Yuvraj (18), son of Jayendra and Chitra, resident of Kunjathur Majal.
It is gathered that a group of six students, including Yashvith and Yuvaraja, from the II PUC Department of Commerce at Someshwar Parijnana PU College, went to the Someshwar Sri Somnath temple after college hours at 12.40 pm on Saturday.
After the puja and meals at the temple, the group rested under a tree nearby. After about 3 hours, they moved towards Uchila along the beach. On reaching the spot at Alimakallu, Yuvraj and Yashvith ventured into the sea for a swim while others watched them on.
It is said that Yuvraj was swept away by a wave and Yashvith who was nearby tried to save him. However, both met a watery grave.
Meanwhile, their bodies have been sent for post-mortem at a private hospital in Deralakatte.
A case has been registered at Ullal Police Station.
