Bengaluru: An alcoholic son allegedly killed his 80 year old mother after she refused to give him money to buy alcohol.
The accused has been identified as Selvaraj, a 55 year old auto rickshaw driver who lived with his mother Lakshmi in her house at Ambedkar Nagara.
The accused Selvaraj is a chronic alcoholic and did not drive the auto rickshaw because of his addiction. His mother would make ends meet by working as a maid in a few houses nearby.
On Saturday night, Selvaraj demanded for money to buy alcohol but Lakshmi refused to give him her hard earned money to fuel his addiction. Selvaraj, in rage, smashed her head against the wall and ran away from the spot.
Lakshmi sustained severe head injuries and cried out loud for help. The neighbours arrived at the spot and took her to the hospital where she was declared dead.
The neighbours informed the police that Selvaraj would always harass his mother for money to buy alcohol. The police have arrested Selvaraj and have produced him in the court. Selvaraj is now in judicial custody.
