Mangaluru: BJP national general secretary CT Ravi termed the opposition to the textbook revision as a “conspiracy” to divide “Hinduism by Caste divisions” and “nationalism by regionalism”. He opined that these “sophistic myths” should be countered by “rational truths.”

Ravi was speaking at a lecture program titles “Truths and Myths” organized by the Mangalore chapter of the Citizens Council at the Sangha Niketan in the city on Saturday.

He said that the present tussle is between “Indianization” that aims to awaken the spirit of nationalism and “Tukde-Tukde gangs” that work to “weaken the nationalistic sentiments.”  The solution to this conflict is rationalism, he said, and added that truth always wins in a rationalistic war.

The present education is influenced by Marx and Marxism. “C-Cube” – i.e. Congress, Communists and Conversion- combined have stifled “Indianness.” Only a particular class appropriated the human resources and education fields after independence. From then on, negative aspects are being taught in textbooks, and “lies are being taught to children,” he said.

“Children are being taught that Alexander was great. A man who attacked our country, how can he be great to us?” he asked.

CT Ravi further alleged that textbooks of today are neither teaching about great Indian personalities like Veer Savarkar, and Shivaji Maharaj, nor about the eminence of Indian culture. An effort to right this situation has started with the new National Education Policy (NEP), he added.

Mangalore University Registrar (Evaluations) Dr. P.L. Dharma, who presided over the event, opined that there is a need to clarify the reality and to foster nationality. Textbooks are the foundation for this goal, he said.
