Sowing for Rabi Crop touches 616.21 lakh hectares till Jan 13

New Delhi: As per preliminary reports received from the states, the total area sown under Rabi crops in India as on January 13 stands at 616.21 lakh hectares as compared to 581.95 lakh hectare this time in 2016, said Union Ministry of Agriculture.

Wheat has been sown, transplanted on an area of 309.60 lakh hectares followed by rice on 14.92 lakh hectares, pulses on 155.35 lakh hectares, coarse cereals on 54.87 lakh hectares and area sown under oilseeds stands at 81.47 lakh hectares.

 The area sown for Rabi crop till January 13 and during the same period last year is given below in lakh hectares.
