Arasikere: Karnataka Home Minister Dr G Parameshwara said that the government cannot directly order a reinvestigation into the Sowjanya rape and murder case. It can only be done if a competent court gives direction to the government, he said.
Speaking to reporters during his visit to the taluk on Sunday, Parameshwara said that it is not a question of the government’s willingness to order reinvestigation. The government can only take action if the court gives direction to this effect. Those who want a reinvestigation will have to file an appeal in a competent court.
The home minister further added that the law of the country applies equally to all. “We had handed the case to CBI following a demand to that effect… Government has done everything it could within the bounds of the law,” he added.
