Beltangady: A petition, seeking reinvestigation into the death of Sowjanya, a student of SDM College, Ujire has been turned down by the Karnataka High Court.
The petitioner Chandappa Gowda, father of the victim had approached the high court asking the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to reinvestigate the alleged rape and death case.
Hearing the petition, Justice K Somashekhar cited that a charge sheet in the case has been filed by the CBI following a proper and justified investigation and the petition for reinvestigation cannot be considered unless the applicant furnishes additional evidence.
The high court upheld petitions filed by Dheeraj Jain, Uday Jain and Mallik Jain, questioning the move of the CBI special court to include them as additional accused and serving the summons. It canceled the summons and annulled the order issued by the judge of the CBI special court to reinvestigate the case.
