Kadaba: The case of a tiles fitter death, Meghraj (32), on Sunday, March 1 in a vehicular accident has now led to the intervention of Dakshina Kannada district’s Superintendent of Police Laxmi Prasad.
SP Prasad visited Kadaba police station and ordered the Deputy Superintendent of Police Dinakar Shetty to investigate the case and file a detailed report soon.
The case pertains to the alleged evidence destruction at the accident site where Meghraj died.
Meghraj had died on the spot after – according to his co-workers and eyewitnesses – he was hit by the truck carrying sand. However, the truck driver and associates claim that Meghraj had lost control of the scooter he was riding and hit the truck.
Meghraj had died on the spot after his skull was crushed under the rear wheel of the truck.
It is alleged that the truck drivers had immediately emptied the sand it was carrying at its destination which was nearby. Later the truck returned to the accident spot and the driver claimed that it was empty when the accident occurred (photos taken by eyewitnesses immediately after the accident show the truck loaded with sand). Allegedly, the truck was carrying illegally acquired sand.
