Bengaluru: Assembly Speaker K R Ramesh Kumar on Thursday issued a notice to Congress’ Chincholi MLA Umesh G Jadhav asking him to appear before him within seven days and clarify the reason for his resignation to the membership of the Legislative Assembly, sources in the Assembly secretariat said.
A two-time MLA Jadhav joined the BJP on Wednesday after submitting his resignation last Monday. However the Speaker is yet to accept Jadhav’s resignation.
Meanwhile Jadhav is also facing the prospect of disqualification. Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leader Siddaramaiah has submitted a petition seeking disqualification of Jadhav and three other rebel MLAs- Ramesh Jarkiholi, B Nagendra and Mahesh Kumathalli under the anti-defection law for anti-party activities.
