Special Postal Cover to commemorate MAHE Silver Jubilee

Manipal: As a part of the Silver Jubilee Celebrations of Manipal Academy of Higher Education, Manipal Philately and Numismatic Club (MPNC) organized the release of special Postal Cover in the Counselling Hall of Manipal.edu building here on Tuesday. Mr. Rajshekhar Bhat, Superintendent, Post Office, Udupi released the commemorative cover which has the image of MAHE founder Dr TMA Pai. The release also coincided with the “Smrithi Din” today. Dr. H.S Ballal, Pro-Chancellor MAHE presided over the function. 

Speaking on the occasion, MAHE Vice Chancellor, Dr H Vinod Bhat, who is also the president of MPNC said this year is special because Manipal Institute of Technology just completed their diamond jubilee celebrations, MAHE is celebrating the 25th year and Academy of General Education its 75th. “As such the cover being released today is important because Dr Pai founded all three,” Dr Bhat said. He also highlighted the significance of special covers.   

Dr. Geetha Maiya, Director Student Affairs welcomed the gathering. Dr. Joseph Thomas renowned Numismatist and also a member of MPNC proposed the vote of thanks. Others present were, Pro Vice Chancellor Dr. Poornima Baliga, Registrar Dr. Narayana Sabhahit, renowned philatelists and members of Dakshina Kannada Philatelic and Numismatics Association and officials from Udupi Post office. An exhibition of postal material related to Manipal and sale of special covers was also held.
